Bheki Zulu, CEO, Council for the Built Environment
Bheki Zulu is the Chief Executive Officer of the Council for the Built Environment (CBE). Before joining the CBE, Bheki had worked in the mining, textile, municipal, food and beverages, water, construction as well as consulting sectors.
Throughout his careers, he has spent most of his extra time on issues of human development. In this regard he has played various leadership roles in various Public Benefit Organisations, such as Business Chambers, Children’s Foundations and Human Resources Development Organisations.
He has management development opportunities in Germany, Switzerland and the United States of America. He participated in the panel of experts contributing to the World Competitiveness Report produced by the IMD in Switzerland.
Shibishi Maruatona, Director, Business Leadership South Africa
Shibishi Maruatona is currently a Director at Business Leadership SA. Prior to that, Shibe – as he is called – was employed as Senior Legal Counsel in the office of the general counsel at Absa Bank Limited, where he was the primary legal resource on the Absa black economic empowerment deal with Batho Bonke.
He was previously employed at Absa Corporate and Merchant Bank (now Absa Capital) within the International Financial Institution’s (IFI) business unit as Regional Head: Southern, East and Central Africa.
He has also held a position of Legal Counsel within the same bank where he was in charge – from a legal point of view – of the Continuous Linked Settlement Bank’s (CLS) admission of ABSA as settlement member thus the South African Rand’s designation as settlement currency.
Before joining ABSA, he was employed as Commercial Legal Advisor at Gensec Bank, which he joined after a similar role at Worldwide Africa Investments Holdings (WAIH).
Shibe is an admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa and is an alternate board member of the National Business Initiative (NBI).
Karel Stanz, Head of Dept: Dept of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences, University of Pretoria
Professor Karel Stanz is HOD of the Department of HRM at the University of Pretoria and a former Chair of the department of HRM at the University of Johannesburg.
Karel is a registered Industrial Psychologist and a Master HRM Practitioner. A passionate servant leader; proponent of corporate/academic partnerships; serves on the selection panel for the Deloitte “Best Company to Work For “; the Lead Academic Partner for the “Tomorrows Leaders Convention” and Chairman and Executive Director of the Human Capital Institute-Africa, which partners top corporations with university researchers and students to explore cutting-edge HR issues.
He is a member of the various professional boards and institutions. His current research focuses on organisational behaviour, Leadership, e-learning and talent management.
