BUSA - One Voice for business

Business Unity South Africa (BUSA) was created in October 2003 through the merger of the Black Business Council and Business South Africa. It began operating in January 2004. The merger created the first truly unified organisation for business in South Africa.

BUSA represents South African business on macro-economic and high-level issues that affect it at the national and international levels. Our function is to ensure that business plays a constructive role in the country’s economic growth, development and transformation and to create an environment in which businesses of all sizes and in all sectors can thrive, expand and be competitive.

Professionalising the HR Profession

As an internationally recognized profession Human Resources is at the heart of the implementation of the HRD Strategy for South Africa to improve the skills in the country so that people and the economy as a whole produce more and better.

The SABPP was established by the Institute for Personnel Management (IPM) and has fulfilled the function of being the standards and professional registration body for HR since 1982, registering more than 7000 HR professionals, accrediting providers and guarding ethics.

Some of the Board’s outputs include Board Papers on HR competencies and HR Profiles, Benchmarking studies, creating a learning path for HR by aligning registration levels to the NQF, a workable RPL system for professional registration, a continued professional development programme launched in 1994, published research and an HR dictionary. SAQA has also accredited the SABPP as the ETQA (Education and Training Quality Assurance body) for human resources.

Information Technology Assocation

The Information Technology Association (ITA) was   founded in 1934  and represents various companies concerned with the supply of information technology equipment, systems, software and services in the  ICT industry. The ITA comprises a  body of members actively participating in issues and events, which directly or indirectly affect business and need attention at national, international, governmental, NGO, para-statal and business level.

One of the many functions of the ITA is lobbying and negotiating at government level on behalf of its members. The ITA works in close liaison with government, consumer and other specialist organizations. Through its close association with the ISETT SETA and Services SETA, the ITA promotes the maintenance of high standards of IT industry technical skills in accordance with international trends.
 
The purpose of the ITA as stated in its Constitution is to “represent and promote the interests of its members, which shall be employers active in the Information Technology Sector.”
